As part of a response to homelessness and helping people in crisis situations, Fishers of Men receives donations of furniture from the public.  In many instances we pick these items up from around Brisbane, using utes and trailers.  This furniture is held until we receive a call from someone in need, then, as the Lord provides, items are bundled up and delivered to people in response to that need for free.

Recipients of services include: families, (including women and children escaping domestic violence), people exiting crisis and cycles of homelessness or addiction and general public in need.

Deliveries/Pick Ups:

  • Tues: 1pm-5pm
  • Weds: 1pm-5pm
  • Sun: 1pm-5pm

We operate mainly on the South Side of Brisbane.

We do not:

  • visit the North Side often.
  • do the Gold Coast.
  • have the capacity to repair or receive broken/damaged furniture.

The furniture ministry is run this with volunteers. This team is led ably by Paul Shay.  Paul used to be an alcoholic himself, but has found freedom in Christ after staying with Fishers of Men since January 2019.  Paul has a huge heart and enjoys giving back to the community and assisting those in need.  He resides in the second stage, assists at first stage, runs one of the car washes, and is one of the main people responsible for assisting and running teams with the furniture ministry.
