Fishers Of Men have three houses where men are supported in their recovery from addictions

The “Freedom from Addiction” program, is a comprehensive and Christ-centered rehabilitation service designed to support men in overcoming addiction and realizing their full potential. The program is structured in two stages, beginning with a rigorous First Stage that focuses on holistic rehabilitation. This phase provides a structured environment where residents, who must commit to a minimum of six months, are required to participate fully in house activities, complete specific programs, and attend counseling sessions. The program emphasizes the importance of removing previous destructive influences and adhering to financial restrictions, ensuring that residents are supported in their journey towards recovery.

During the first stage, residents engage in a variety of activities aimed at addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This includes peer group support, anger management training, confidential counseling, community participation, and access to medical and psychological services. Additionally, the program assists with life skills acquisition, such as obtaining driver licenses and pursuing education or vocational training. The goal is to guide individuals away from life-controlling behaviors and towards a Christ-centered life, equipping them with the tools needed to succeed and help others.

After six months, residents who have made progress may apply to transition to Second Stage. This phase, conducted at the second stage houses in Springwood and Rochedale South, provides a supportive environment to facilitate reintegration into society. Here, residents benefit from continued guidance and support as they navigate their path back to independent living. The program’s success is evidenced by the positive transformations seen in many participants, including those who have moved from chronic homelessness to stable housing and employment, and those who have shifted from criminal backgrounds to becoming contributing members of society.
