Second Stage can support 12 men recover from addiction

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6-7

The Second Stage program offers men who have successfully completed the first stage (Lorimer) an opportunity to take the next step toward independent living. This phase provides a supportive environment where residents can continue their personal and spiritual growth while gradually transitioning to a more self-reliant lifestyle.

In 2014, Fishers of Men purchased a property in Rochedale South specifically for Second Stage. This house has been thoughtfully upgraded, thanks to grants and generous donations, to include five bedrooms, a study, and a double carport. In 2018, Fishers of Men acquired an additional property, further expanding the Second Stage service and its capacity to help men take the next step in their recovery journey.

Opportunities for Growth and Contribution

Second Stage is designed for men who are ready for increased responsibility and independence while maintaining access to external support as needed. Admission into Second Stage is determined on a case-by-case basis, typically after completing a minimum of six months in the First Stage.

It encourages residents to take proactive steps toward personal and professional goals. Many residents use this time to:

  • Pursue employment or further education.
  • Develop new skills or complete qualifications.
  • Take on leadership roles by assisting in First Stage as helpers or leaders.

This progression inspires motivation and provides a pathway for long-term transformation, empowering residents to thrive in their independence while continuing to live for Christ.

Fishers of Men remains committed to providing ongoing support throughout Second Stage. By fostering independence and equipping residents with practical tools and spiritual guidance, the program ensures that each individual is prepared to transition successfully into life beyond structured recovery, ready to positively impact others and live a Christ-centered life.
